The Sinister Stepmom
When a new step-parent walks into your life, it can be a strange experience. The family dynamic suddenly changing can be a jarring turn of events for everyone involved. Sure, everyone wants their parent to be happy with their new life partner. However, what happens when your parent’s new love interest doesn’t have the best intentions and attempts to sabotage the family? Yikes! There are several warning signs of a sketchy step-parent. Just ask our pal, “Jake.”
When Jake’s stepmom, “Rachel,” started dating his wealthy father, “Robert,” Jake could sense she was up to no good. Rachel spent over a year attempting to weasel her way into Robert’s life, and eventually, she got her way. When Robert passed away shortly into his relationship with Rachel, she did everything in her power to steal his home and money away from Jake. Push Jake out of his own house? Not!
Jake knew he needed to craft a plan to rip Rachel’s newfound cushy lifestyle away and kick her out of his life once and for all.

Rachel’s Repulsive Behavior
Jake was an only child. His mother passed away five years ago, at the age of fifty-five. Jake was only seventeen when his mother passed away. His father, Robert, was left vulnerable and heartbroken. Robert and his wife had been together since they attended college, and they were the same age. Everyone thought they were perfect together.
Jake’s dad met his now stepmom while she was his mom’s nurse at the hospital. While Jake’s mother spent her final days sick in bed, his stepmom Rachel, worked to gain Robert’s trust. Sure, nurses should be nurturing grieving family members. Even though Jake was young at the time, he could see right through Rachel’s kind-hearted facade.
Rachel’s goal was to begin a relationship with Robert, then use him for financial gain. However, there was nothing Jake could do. At the end of the day, it was up to his father if he wanted to be in a relationship with her. Besides, Jake just received a full-ride scholarship to attend college out of the country the following year. He couldn’t keep an eye on his father forever. Jake could only hope his father would see Rachel for who she truly was.
While Jake was away for a year at college, Rachel called his father to check on him every month. After a while, Rachel and Robert spoke to each other almost daily. Not long after, she and Robert had begun a serious relationship. Jake wasn’t pleased with his father’s decision to date Rachel, but he wouldn’t rain on his parade. His father seemed happy for the first time since his mother passed away, so Jake tried to give Rachel the benefit of the doubt. Regardless, Jake had a gut feeling about Rachel, and her actions later proved she couldn’t be trusted.

Happily Never After
As mentioned, Jake’s father, Robert, was a fairly wealthy man. Robert was a successful banker, and he had built an impressive portfolio of wealth throughout his life. Once Rachel found this out, she did everything in her power to make sure she received her share of the money.
Only six months after Robert and Rachel began dating, they got married.
Six months? Well, if they were happy, who would I be to judge them?
Even though Robert believed he loved Rachel, he never fully stopped grieving his wife who passed away. Robert himself began getting weaker and weaker by the day too, despite only being fifty–seven years old.
One day, Robert called Jake and explained, “Son, my health is getting worse. What can I give you to make sure you are set up in life?”
Jake replied, “Dad, I don’t need anything from you. I am a man, and I can take care of myself. Besides, what are you even talking about? You are going to be around for a couple more decades. Plus, you have family members who I would rather you give your money to. I have a full scholarship to college and I am doing alright for myself. Don’t worry about giving me any money.”
Only one year later, Robert passed away at age fifty-nine.
To Jake’s surprise, his father gifted him his house after he passed away. Jake certainly didn’t expect to receive the home, and he didn’t ask for it, either. Robert also gave a small sum of money to his sisters and their children.
Now, you may be asking yourself, “Where did the rest of the money go?”
Well, it went directly to Jake’s sketchy stepmom, Rachel.
Although Rachel received nearly eighty percent of Robert’s wealth after his passing, Jake could tell she was upset about not receiving the house, too. The house was located in a nice, upscale, and trendy neighborhood. The properties were hard to come by, and they usually sold for hundreds of thousands of bucks. However, the house legally belonged to Jake now, and he had the legal paperwork to prove it.
Nevertheless, Rachel wasn’t going to back down easily. She continued living in the house with Jake and acted as if she owned the place. Jake downplayed the fact that he was the homeowner, and eventually, Rachel forgot that she had no legal rights to the property.
Only five months after Robert’s passing, Rachel brought a new man into Jake’s home. A little soon, don’t you think?
Jake wasn’t going to stand for Rachel’s messy, gold-digging, behavior. He knew he needed to get her out of the home one way or another.

New Boyfriend, New Problems
Jake was completely fed up with Rachel’s behavior. Rachel brought her new boyfriend, “Eric,” into the house, and acted like Jake was a guest in his own home. Eric didn’t know any better, either. As far as he knew, the home was Rachel’s. Jake chose to play along with Rachel’s delusional beliefs while he plotted his revenge.
A couple of days later, Jake walked into his room only to find his Playstation had gone missing.
When he questioned Rachel about where the Playstation went, she responded, “You are way too old to be playing video games. I gave the Playstation to Eric’s cousin. Good luck getting it back.”
Now, Rachel was really out of line. Jake didn’t even know Eric or his family, and Rachel had no right to give his belongings away without consulting him first.
Jake quickly changed the network passwords for the Playstation the same day and shrugged the situation off. He tried to smile and go along with Rachel’s intentions, but he knew she needed to be gone sooner than later.
Later in the day, Rachel proceeded to tell Jake, “Eric and I are getting married. I can’t mourn your father forever. I need to move on with my life.”
Jake faked a smile and replied, “Rachel, how nice! I’m happy for you. I suppose now would be a great time to tell you I secured a job and will be finding a new place to live soon.”
Rachel’s eyes lit up, and she was thrilled at the prospect of the house belonging to her. Little did she know, she would soon be kicked out of the house forever.

Jake’s Rightful Revenge
Rachel patronizingly replied to Jake, “You will always have a place in this house, even with your father being gone. You are welcome to come over whenever you would like.”
Seriously? Jake already owns the house, Rachel!
Jake responded, “It won’t take me too long to move out. I will probably be gone in the next three months.”
“Wonderful,” Rachel sneered, “Eric and I planned on having our wedding during the next three months. We’re planning on going out of the country for at least four months too, otherwise, we would have invited you. I just know how busy you are, and I figured you wouldn’t want to come. Anyway, can you watch the house while we are gone?”
Can Jake watch his own house? Sure he can!
“I can watch the house,” Jake said with a smirk, “You can trust me. It’s not a problem.”
When Rachel and Eric flew off on their four-month-long destination wedding trip, Jake finally had the house to himself. It was the perfect setting to enact his plot against his scummy stepmom.
The first order of business? Jake advertised his house on rental websites, offering to lease the property at a fair price. Then, he hired movers to box all of Rachel’s possessions and put them into a storage unit.
Jake was certainly a better person than me. I would have tossed Rachel’s belongings in the garbage!
Finally, Jake changed all of the locks to the home. Within days, Jake began receiving dozens of offers to rent his home. He ended up renting the home to a wonderful young family with two children. The family paid Jake the first and last month’s rent and signed a lease for one year. Jake also warned the family about his insane stepmom who thought the house belonged to her and presented them with contact information to his lawyer in case they needed help.
Rachel would be in for the surprise of her life when she came back from her wedding, only to find herself homeless.

The Return Of Ruthless Rachel
While Jake’s stepmom was on her honeymoon, he found an apartment in the city near his new job. Jake also met a woman, and they began dating and living together. Everything was going according to plan in Jake’s life, and he just needed to wait for Rachel’s meltdown when she arrived back home.
When Rachel arrived back home to find a family living in the house she believed belonged to her, she was livid. Luckily for Jake, his lawyer worked quickly to shut her down without him having to speak a word to her again.
Rachel and her new husband, Eric, were left with no other choice other than to move back to her home country with family. Jake heard through the grapevine the couple was blowing through his father’s money, and they would be broke sooner or later.
Jake chuckled and thought, “Well, maybe she will go exploit some other lonely man into giving her his money.”
Jokes aside, Jake was making a decent amount of money himself from renting his father’s old house out. He made enough money to pay for his cousin’s college education and move into a better apartment. In fact, Jake didn’t even need to keep his job anymore. Jake made enough money renting his father’s home to keep him afloat for the rest of his life.
Perhaps if Rachel would have been a better person, Jake would have let her stay in the home.
Instead, Jake chose to give Rachel the priceless wedding gift of homelessness and a well-deserved taste of her own medicine.
