Just two weeks ago, Youtuber and makeup artist, Patrick Starrr showed off his makeup skills on the lovely Katy Perry. He featured in Katy’s 4-day live stream in promoting her album release and Witness World Tour, which was one of his latest and greatest moments in his constantly growing popularity. But, as with many celebrities, Patrick’s journey to this moment was not an easy one.
While taking to social media to let the world know of his most recent accomplishment, Patrick also took the chance to point out a major struggle he lived through. He shouted out to his manager at his last job at a cosmetic counter, who told Patrick to take off his makeup.

A Hard-Fought Past: Patrick Recalled Multiple Times He Was Shamed For His Makeup Choices
Patrick told Seventeen more about the entire makeup-shaming situation called out in his tweet, which took place in Orlando Florida in 2012. And boy was the drama ironic. While working a cosmetic counter; Patrick stated,”The manager said it wasn’t department store friendly and asked me to wear ‘boy glam’ instead of the blue cut crease smokey eye.” But this wasn’t the last time his look was bashed.
At a different counter just a year later, Patrick was yet again asked if he could remove his makeup; “This was when I was wearing polka dot black and white eyeliner.”
The Look He Was Told Wasn’t “Department Store Friendly”: Patrick’s Neutral Smokey Eyes, A Pop Of Blue Liner, And Some Peachy Cheeks
Patrick explained how he felt so upset about the situation “I remember apologizing so many times. I remember crying in the back when they asked me the second time to wipe it off and in my head, I was thinking to myself ‘I’ll set the trend one day…'”
Set the trend, he did. Patrick Starrr has been changing the game in the makeup world. He is known on Youtube for his 2.2 million subscribers, his Instagram following of 3.3 million and his beautiful cosmetic creations.
