Ocean hair is the latest hair color trend that’s surfacing up all over Instagram and it’s starting to gain momentum!
Yes, this summer people everywhere are feeling those seaside vibes and changing up their hair. And no, it’s not just that ocean/beach texture hair that we’ve all rocked before. It actually consists of different dimensions of blue tones.
In an interview with Allure, a hair colorist named Brittany Holland aka @cozmic.color on Instagram talked about the hair color and why she created it. “My client and I both share a love for the ocean and the beach so I wanted to create something she would enjoy and she could almost get lost in while stuck in our desert town (of California).”
And that blue ocean color was definitely achieved!
But as with most vibrant hair colors, the brightness of color can fade. So when it comes to the staying power, Brittany recommended that anyone who tries this trend, to use a heat protectant spray and wash your hair with cold water, in the shower.
Brittany also said that she used different hair color dyes from Pulp Riot Hair to create the depths of blue, as to mimic the waves of an ocean.
And it seems as if the hair color company is pretty popular, as it has over 500,000 followers on their Instagram @pulpriothair, and many other stylists seem to be using the hair colors as well.
A vivid hair color specialist from Maryland, named Kasey O’Hara (@hairbykaseyoh on IG) has done her own version of the ocean hair. Kasey has also used Pulp Riot’s hair colors, in the creation for the hair trend. She says she used the shades called Nightfall, Aquatic, Sea Glass, and Powder.
But not just anyone can purchase the hair dyes. Pulp Riot advises on their website that only licensed professional can have access to the colors. However, if you are interested in trying out the colors mentioned and you’re unsure of whether or not your hair stylist has the colors, you can tag your hair stylist in any of the images on the Instagram account, @pulpriothair.
Another good idea for this hair color trend is to bring in different photos of inspiration, to your usual salon! Or even check on Instagram for color specialists in your area!
And actually, this blue hair color trend is a bit familiar with some social media influencers like Niki DeMartino, who has sported the blue hair for a while now.
The question is: Will you take the plunge for this beach-inspired trend?
Snap a photo if you do and use the hashtag #oceanhair on Instagram!
