Kendall Jenner opened up on Keeping Up With The Kardashian's about the controversial Pepsi commercial...
Sunday night was the season 14 premiere of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s’ and the episode showed a distraught Kendall Jenner.
If you didn’t know, earlier this year, Kendall was featured in a Pepsi commercial that caused major controversy and was eventually pulled off the air.
While Kendall had not publically spoken out about her immense regret in being a part of Pepsi’s commercial, it seems that the show was filmed close to when the situation occurred.
In the season premiere episode, Kendall tearfully apologized and expressed how terrible she felt about the commercial.
“If I knew that this was going to be the outcome, I would have never done something like this.”
After dealing with all of the criticism following the commercial, Kendall was “devastated” and expressed that it was not her intent to hurt or offend other people.
Kendall said that when the opportunity was offered to her, she was initially excited, as so many iconic celebrities had done their own Pepsi commercial before. (To name a few celebrities with Pepsi commercials: Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Britney Spears).
Kendall was truly amazed that she was chosen to do this. So when she read the reactions and started receiving bad phone call after bad phone call, Kendall was mortified!
“I would never purposefully hurt someone…EVER!”
Kendall talked to sister, Kim Kardashian, about how she felt.
Kim gave her some big sister advice, telling Kendall to be “real and honest” about the situation. She also reassured Kendall, that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Khloe Kardashian came to Kendall’s defense, describing Kendall as being very sensitive and that she would never mean to disrespect anybody.
In an interview with Fortune, the CEO of Pepsi, Indra Nooyi, spoke out about the controversial commercial, saying:
“I realized the scene that caused the most consternation was the final one, when Kendall Jenner gave a Pepsi to the policeman. I had not seen that scene. And I take everything personally. The minute I saw people upset, I pulled it. And you know what, it’s not worth it. There were people on both sides, but at the end of the day, our goal is not to offend anybody.”
While it seems to be apparent now, let’s hope both Jenner and Pepsi have truly learned a lesson from this negative experience.
